Butter Crumb Topped Cabbage

Method

    Thinly slice the cabbage and cut into about 2 inch lengths.

    Peel, halve, and thinly slice the onion.

    Heat the water with the cabbage in a large pot with the salt and pepper.

    Continue to adjust seasonings as the cabbage becomes soft, but keep covered as much as possible.

    After about 10 minutes, it'll be done.

    In the meantime, heat the butter and bread crumbs and saute until golden and deep brown.

    Place the cooked cabbage in a casserole and top with the buttered crumbs.

    Keep warm in an oven until the other dishes are ready.
